Dine by the sea at Blu.

From continental Istria, we headed to the coast. Coastal cuisine in Istria is more Italian and Mediterranean in nature, with a heavy focus on seafood, compared to the truffles and goulashes of the interior peninsula. For a taste, we found Blu, a restaurant located inside a family home located outside the walls of Rovinj. The place is small and idyllic – you can literally hear the water while dining – and you can get there by a simple ferry ride or a scenic drive along the coastline.

When curating the restaurant Lidia, the manager, wanted to highlight local and fresh ingredients, while elevating the food by adding a touch of creativity and modernity to her cooking technique. As you can see, the plating and presentation are not what you’d expect from a modest coastal restaurant. Once again Croatia offered us a delightful new culinary experience that also allowed us to connect with its historical and traditional flavors.
